Opened on November 6, 2008, the Historical Society Museum is housed in the former offices of the California Water Service Company. For twenty years the museum operated out of the Magnolia Senior Center (601 Grand Avenue). With the acquisition of South San Francisco memorabilia and artifacts, the museum quickly outgrew that location and moved to its current location.
Knowledgeable docents are available to guide visitors through the exhibits. Available for purchase are DVDs and books on the history of South San Francisco. Also available are souvenir pins, mugs, t-shirts, postcards and the 2008 Centennial postage stamp. Admission is free.
